An Agreement was signed between UNICEF & AHO on 07 September 2015. According to the Agreement AHO has to carry out the following activities in 03 Union Councils (Shaheen Muslim Town I & II and Larama) in Urban areas of District Peshawar: Construction/Installation of demonstration latrines at public places Repair/ Rehabilitation of existing latrines facilities and installation of hand washing places in schools Installation/ Rehabilitation of latrines facilities in health centers/ hospitals (2 separate units of latrines for men & women with disability factor considered) preferably near children wards Installation of hand washing stations in the hospitals near public latrines & public eating places Repair/ Rehabilitation/ retrofitting/ quick fix of existing WSS in community Repair/ Rehabilitation/ retrofitting/ quick fix of existing WSS in schools Social organizers & other project staff of AHO & HF trained & SABAWON on facilitation of PATS in urban communities & schools Training of school teachers on facilitation of SLTS in schools Training of LHWs/LHVs on facilitation of PATs in communities & schools Formation/ Capacity development of 35 WSC (25 M & 10 F – 2 members from each ward) on demand creation for sanitation, organizational management, advocacy tools & linkage development with social welfare department Government officials & political leaders (newly elected district councilors & neighborhood councilors) oriented/ trained on PATS to enhance ownership, ensure sustainability & promote the approach Coordination meetings with the sector partners & Strengthening of Water & Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) on water quality testing & use of deliqua kits (with the support of PCRWR/WHO) Formation & strengthening of District Sanitation Committee (DSC) Baseline & End-line established for knowledge management & accountability Launch 50 BCC campaigns in target communities and schools to create demand for sanitation, personal health & hygiene and nutrition Celebrate special events e.g Cleanliness drive, best UC & Mohallah events, GHWD,/ WWD, WTD, street theaters & puppet shows Mass Awareness through electronic media – talk shows, documentary One month comprehensive hand washing campaign in Peshawar city involving government, media, hospitals, citizens, students & ambassador Formation & strengthening of WASH clubs in schools.
